CHINESE TRADITIONAL CULRURE AND BUSINESS ETHICS SYLLABUS, Fall 2016

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  

This course offers a synopsis of the business ethics climate within China and the ethical challenges that Chinese market encounters.

  

The course is divided into two parts.

  1. An overview of the operating cultural environment for business in China is presented in Part 1 in which students will:

  1. Understand the cultural characteristics and context for business in China, including Business Etiquette, Common Preferences and Taboos, Chinese Festival Customs and Business Opportunities, Chinese Personal Relationships and Business, Chinese Business Negotiation Styles and Demographics of China.

  2. Investigate business obstacles and opportunities in China.

  

  1. The traditional and current business ethics and corporate social responsibility trends and challenges in China are presented in Part 2 in which students will:

  1. Identify the concepts of key terms including ethics, business ethics, morality, etc.

  2. Evaluate the influence that the traditional ethics have on current Chinese corporations.

  3. Analyze the ethical principles and challenges of Chinese business

  4. Investigate the possible solutions to the ethical challenges

  

Classroom discussion and debate as well as assignments will be involved throughout the lecture.
